7.1 and Half-Fed: The Day My Habits Held but My Body Didn’t
The Life OS spat out a 7.1 today and stamped the mood as “focused.” Both of those are technically true and both of them are lying to me a little. Because a 7.1 on paper hides the number that actually mattered: health at 4. That’s the story. Everything else was fine. That was the crack in the floor.
The habits board looked like a real day
Let me give myself the wins first, because they were real and I logged them. Tefillin — done. Middot check-in — done. Meditation, a budget check, read before bed, an AI innovation note, this blog. Faith came in at 8. Family at 8. Lior and I did the morning dance in the kitchen (his non-negotiable, not mine), and I asked Daphna a real question instead of the autopilot “how was your day.”
The promise ledger is clean — 100% over seven days. No words broken. On paper, that’s a dense, disciplined Tuesday. Habits at 7, system at 7, work at 7. The machine ran.
Here’s the uncomfortable part: faith and family held without a single reflection logged. The sensors are thin. The habits themselves are the only evidence I have that those dimensions were alive today. Which is fine — the doing is the point, not the journaling about the doing — but I noticed it.

Then there’s the 4
Zero workouts. Not a short session, not a light one — zero. Garmin has nothing. Weekly intensity is sitting at 69 of 150 minutes, less than halfway through the week’s target and I’m on Tuesday. I had the openings. A morning swim was there. Weights were there. I chose motion over movement and told myself I’d catch it later. Later didn’t come.
And the fueling. 640 calories logged. 38 grams of protein against a 130g goal — that’s 29%. Even correcting for the fact that photo logging always underreads, I probably landed around 800–900 kcal and maybe 55g protein. That’s not a “light day.” That’s forgetting to eat because work ate the hours. I’m asking my body to hold up a two-a-day training life and I fed it like it was recovering from surgery.
Sleep was 6.78 hours, no HRV read. So I have no idea what state the engine is even in. One bad metabolic day isn’t a crisis. But it compounds fast against a training gap, and I’ve now got both stacked on the same Tuesday. That’s how a 4 happens — not from one dramatic failure, from three quiet ones agreeing with each other.
Motion is not momentum
This is the line I keep coming back to. The finance dimension held at 7, the portfolio did its thing, the decks fired, the work moved. Output was there. But output isn’t the same as building. A day where I don’t move, barely eat, and coast on the connected moves I could have made with Daphna — that’s a treadmill day. Getting somewhere on the numbers, nowhere on the ground.
There’s a project due Thursday, three days out. Readiness reads 90. That one’s actually in good shape, which almost makes today worse — I had the slack to take care of myself and I spent it on nothing in particular.

Tomorrow is not complicated. One session — swim or weights, non-negotiable, I don’t care which. 130g of protein minimum to rebuild from today’s collapse. Confirm the Thursday project and push it toward close. That’s it. The habits already proved they’ll hold; the question I’m sitting with tonight is why I’ll defend a two-minute tefillin wrap to the death but let my own body run on fumes without blinking. Yalla — fix that one first.
