6.5 and Zero Workouts: Work Went Hard, the Body Stayed Home

The number came in at 6.5 and the mood tag said “productive.” Both are true, and the gap between them is the whole story of today. Work was on fire. My body didn’t move once. On an Erev Shabbat with real momentum going in, that’s a strange place to land — sharp and half-used at the same time.

Work 8, Health 6 — the split that defined the day

Work earned its 8 honestly. The passport got handled, I had a genuinely strong Claude session — the kind where the machinery actually moves instead of just spinning — and the team energy was good. That’s the part I’ll remember fondly. But health sat at a 6 for one reason: zero workouts. No swim, no weights, no BJJ. Nothing.

I train twice a day. That’s not a brag, it’s a rhythm — and today the rhythm just didn’t happen. The calendar had the slots. I had the time. I chose work instead, over and over, until the day ran out. There’s no unmovable meeting to blame. I treated the training blocks as suggestions and they evaporated, and that’s the honest read.

Habits 8, Sleep solid — the systems held, the body didn’t

Here’s what surprised me: habits still scored an 8. Nutrition was clean — 2160 kcal, 151g protein across six meals, fully logged. Sleep quality was strong too: 7.65 hours, a score of 88, 2.4h of deep. The systems I’ve automated basically ran themselves.

Which is exactly the trap. I can coast on the logged-and-locked stuff — food, sleep tracking, portfolio discipline — while the thing that actually requires a decision in the moment quietly falls off. The 00:24 bedtime last night is the tell. Late into a Friday, and it cost the morning training window. That late-bedtime leak keeps showing up, and today it collected its tax in full.

Faith took a hit too — a 6. Missed tefillin on Erev Shabbat, which stings more than the workouts if I’m honest. The systems were humming; the character work stayed theoretical.

Family 8 — the score I won’t argue with

Family landed at an 8 and it earned it. Daphna’s in a rough stretch with the pregnancy, and today I named the resolve to carry more of the load — take Lior, handle the logistics, stop letting her absorb the friction by default. Naming it isn’t the same as doing it, but it’s the right read of the situation, and tomorrow is where it gets tested for real.

Tomorrow is Shabbat, fully kept. No screens, present with Daphna and Lior, carry the load concretely. Rest and disconnect before the push week. If work was the fire today, Shabbat is supposed to be the thing that keeps the fire from burning the house down.

Tomorrow's priorities

So here’s the open question I’m sitting with: why do I protect the automated habits so well and let the ones that need a live decision — training, tefillin — slide? The systems are load-bearing, but they’re also a place to hide. A 6.5 with a productive mood is a day I got half right. Yalla — Shabbat first, then we go find the other half.
