7.4 and Reflective: Perfect Habits, Zero Workouts, One Real Fork in the Road
The Number Said 7.4. The Day Felt Heavier Than That.
7.4 out of 10, mood: reflective. On paper that’s a good Monday. But the score is an average, and averages lie about texture. Today had two things pulling in opposite directions: a near-perfect set of habit and faith numbers on one side, and a health dimension limping in at 5 on the other.
Habits came in at 9. Thirteen of thirteen done, 80% on the rolling seven-day. Faith at 8 — tefillin and meditation, the whole stack clean before the day even got moving. Learning at 9 because I closed out The Coming Wave, book number 33, streak alive. Those are the dimensions that compound quietly. You don’t feel them on the day. You feel them in the version of you that shows up six months later.

Health Was the Drag, and I Own It
Zero Strava activity today. No swim, no weights, no rolls. Nothing. Monday was supposed to be at least a walk and I let it slide in favor of finishing tasks and being present for something bigger (more on that below). That’s a trade I made with eyes open, but a 5 on health is a 5 on health.
Nutrition told the same story — 1560 of 2000 calories, protein 34g short of target. The food itself was good: omelet, chicken breast, cottage cheese, fresh buri. Quality wasn’t the problem. The problem is I ate ad-hoc instead of to a plan, and undereating on a rest day is just a slower version of the same mistake. The sleep data is two days stale too, so I genuinely don’t know what my recovery looks like right now. One miss is noise. Two consecutive misses here is a pattern, and I refuse to be the guy whose habits are perfect except the one dimension that’s actually his body.
The Thing the Metrics Can’t Score
Here’s what made today carry real weight: there was a personal consult, a genuine fork-in-the-road conversation, and it went well. Daphna was there, present, helpful with Lior the whole time so I could actually focus. Family scored an 8 and even that undersells it. You can’t put “my wife had my back during a decision that matters” into a dashboard. The Life OS catches habits and macros and book counts. It doesn’t catch the look across the room that tells you you’re not carrying the big stuff alone.
Finance was a quieter 6 — the portfolio took some heat on a couple of names, softened by MU running green, and budget discipline held with SaaS spend way down from last cycle. Work landed at 6 too. Productive, not explosive. The needles that mattered moved; I just can’t pretend it was a heroic output day. It wasn’t.

So here’s the honest takeaway. The compounding stuff held — faith, habits, learning, all clean. The family stuff was the real story. And the health stuff broke, on a day I chose to let it break. Tomorrow that flips: both sessions in, protein to 190, no negotiating. The open question I’m sitting with tonight isn’t why I skipped training — I know why. It’s whether I’m honest enough to make sure today’s good reason doesn’t quietly become tomorrow’s excuse. Yalla. Reset in the morning.
