7.6 and Reflective: A Sunday That Got the Big Things Right and the Body Wrong
What the Numbers Actually Said
7.6 and the mood tag came back “reflective,” which is honest. This was a Sunday that landed exactly where you’d want a Sunday to land — and missed exactly where a Sunday tends to miss.
Family came in at 9. Faith at 8. Habits a clean 15/15 — a perfect sweep, on a day off, which almost never happens because rest days are when the cracks show. Learning hit 9 because I finally closed out Antifragile. That’s 32 books now, and the streak is alive. Those are the dimensions that matter most to me, and they all showed up.
And then health: 5. Work: 5. The day’s one-liner basically wrote itself — full day with Lior, Antifragile done, nutrition the gap.
The Win: Father Mode, No Apologies
Morning started with a dance. Lior and me in the living room, music up, him doing that thing where he plants his feet and bounces with his whole body. That’s the kind of moment the dashboard can flag as a 9 but never really capture. I was hands-on around the house all day, and we closed the evening with something meaningful and personal. No splitting attention between a laptop and a kid. Just present.
Faith held too — tefillin logged, the anchor stayed in place. When the family and faith numbers are both high, the day has a spine even if the rest wobbles. And it did wobble.

The Miss Is Metabolic, and I Know It
Here’s the part I can’t dress up. No training today. Zero. The double-session cadence — swim plus weights or BJJ — just didn’t happen. Rest day, fine, except a rest day is supposed to be a trade-off, not a vacuum.
And the fuel was worse than the rest. I came in at 1,433 calories — 49% of target — with 92g of protein against a 190g goal. That’s not “I ate light.” That’s a body running on half a tank. One day of that is noise. Three days of that and the lifting numbers drop, the recovery slows, the mood follows it down. I know this pattern, which is exactly why I’m naming it instead of shrugging it off.
On the work side, a 5 feels right. The portfolio had a genuinely strong session — MU alone up 8.7%, and the weekly intensity goal technically got hit — so the long-game thesis kept compounding without me touching it. But the operational rhythm was flat. Q2 is real: KPIs sitting at 143 of 180 with nine days left. That’s a number that doesn’t care that it was Sunday.

So what does 7.6 actually mean? It means I got the irreplaceable stuff right — the kid, the faith, the habits, the reading identity — and let the recoverable stuff slide. That’s the better version of a mediocre day, honestly. You can always reset training and nutrition tomorrow; you can’t get back a Sunday with your son. But the open question is whether I can hold both at once instead of trading one for the other. Tomorrow: both sessions, protein front-loaded before evening, and lean into the team cadence with nine days on the clock. Yalla — reset.
