7.6 and Sharp: The Day I Trained Twice and Forgot to Eat
The Numbers Said 7.6. My Stomach Said Otherwise.
Sharp mood, 7.6 day. On paper this one fired: two workouts, 14 out of 14 habits — a perfect day on the habit grid — faith stack intact, learning at a 9 because I finally closed The Innovator’s Dilemma. Work came in at an 8 off a diagnostic session that actually landed. By the dashboard’s logic, this was a good day, and I’m not going to pretend it wasn’t.
But you can’t read the dashboard without reading between it. Health sat at 6 today, and that 6 is the whole story. I swam 700m in the morning, then put myself through a 34-minute HIIT session in the evening with a heart rate that peaked at 172. Two sessions. And I fueled all of it on 1,120 calories. That’s 56% of target. Protein came in at 86 grams against a 190 goal — 45%. Yalla, that’s not a deficit, that’s self-sabotage with good intentions.
The Recurring Leak
Here’s the honest part: this isn’t new. I keep doing the same thing — I crush the physical effort, log the sessions, feel like a machine, and then quietly forget that a 172bpm HIIT on half my protein isn’t a health win. It’s an incomplete one. I’m tearing down muscle and not giving it anything to rebuild with. The training “counts” in my head, so I let the eating slide, and the gap doesn’t show up tonight — it shows up three days later in recovery I can’t trace back to its cause.
The habits score being a perfect 10 actually makes this worse, in a way. It tells me I have the discipline. I can hit 14 out of 14 checkboxes without blinking. So the nutrition miss isn’t a capacity problem — it’s a sequencing problem. I let the day get away from me before the food got prioritized. That’s fixable, and tomorrow’s plan is blunt about it: 190g of protein before dinner. Front-load it. Don’t let training go unfueled again.

Work Real, Market Generous, Faith Quietly Holding
Work momentum is genuine. The diagnostic session did what I needed it to, and the quarter’s wind-down is close — not done, but closeable. I can feel the difference between a loop that’s open and one that’s about to shut, and a few of mine are about to shut.
The portfolio was a mixed bag dressed up by one winner. MU erupted +15.9% — a gift from the market gods, and I’ll take it, but I know enough to call it what it is: partly luck. Outside of that, NVDA, GOOG, IBIT all red on a soft tech day. The thesis still holds; the recursion loop doesn’t care about a Thursday. What’s actually nagging me more than the red is the spend — misc is up meaningfully this cycle, $790, and that’s worth watching before it becomes a habit of its own.
Faith held at 8, and that’s the part I’m quietly proud of. Tefillin, meditation, the dance with Lior, the daily question for Daphna. None of it dramatic. All of it there.

So here’s the takeaway I’m sitting with as I prep for Shabbat: a 7.6 with a perfect habit day and a finished book still hides a real leak, and the leak isn’t discipline — it’s order of operations. I can do hard things. I just keep doing them in the wrong sequence and feeding myself last. Tomorrow the food comes first, the table gets set early, and the transition into Shabbat is clean. The question I keep asking: why is the one thing my body actually needs the thing I’m most willing to skip?
